Claude Certified Architect is a real Anthropic credential. The exam costs $125 for Architect – Foundations and $175 for Architect – Professional, and you need 720 on a 100 to 1,000 scale to pass.

The catch is access. The exams are open only to people who work at Claude Partner Network organizations, so an individual outside a partner firm cannot sit them today. Per Anthropic’s partner certification FAQ, the exam is 120 minutes of testing and the credential is valid for 12 months. This guide summarizes Anthropic’s July 2026 announcement and its certification FAQ and eligibility pages, read on 20 October 2026. Fees and terms changed during 2026, so confirm before you plan.

The short answer

  • Does it exist? Yes. It is one of four Anthropic certifications (Associate, Developer, Architect Foundations, Architect Professional).
  • Cost: $125 for Architect Foundations, $175 for Architect Professional, before partner discounts.
  • Pass mark: 720 on a 100 to 1,000 scale.
  • Who can take it: people at Claude Partner Network organizations, with a company email, aged 18+, with government ID.
  • Validity: 12 months.

What are the four Claude certifications?

Certification Aimed at (per Anthropic) Fee
Associate – Foundations Everyday Claude use for consultants, project leads, business and technical staff $99
Developer – Foundations Engineers building applications (Claude API, tool use, agent development) $125
Architect – Foundations Solution architects who design and build agent systems $125 (raised from $99 on 30 June 2026)
Architect – Professional Large-enterprise integration architecture, governance and evaluation $175

Pick by job. Architects who design agent systems start at Foundations. Choose Professional if you own enterprise integration, governance and evaluation.

How much does the Claude Certified Architect exam cost?

The FAQ lists fees in US dollars before partner discounts. Registered-tier partners pay full price. Select, Preferred and Global Premier partners get 50% off, and Global Premier gets 100% off through 31 December 2026. A retake costs the full fee, with discounts still applying. You pay by credit card in Partner Academy.

In practice, the Foundations exam at $125 drops to a smaller bill for a Select, Preferred or Global Premier firm. Ask your employer’s partner contact which tier you are in before you pay.

What is the exam format and passing score?

  • Multiple-choice and scenario-based multiple-response questions. Anthropic does not state the number of questions.
  • 120 minutes of testing time (about 135 minutes seat time), online (OnVUE) or at a Pearson test center, closed book.
  • Languages: English and Japanese.
  • Scaled score 100 to 1,000; 720 to pass. Passers receive a Credly badge.

Who can take the exam?

Anthropic’s eligibility page says exams are open only to people who work at Claude Partner Network organizations. You must be 18 or older and hold a government-issued ID. You sign in with a company email on a domain in your organization’s partner record, and personal emails do not work. After you pay, Anthropic emails a Pearson VUE link to book. Joining the partner network is described as free in Anthropic’s announcement.

How long is it valid, and what if I fail?

The credential is valid for 12 months from the date earned. On-time recertification is a free, non-proctored assessment in Partner Academy. A lapsed certification needs the full exam at the full fee.

  • After a fail you wait 14 days, then 30, then 90.
  • You get a maximum of 4 attempts per exam in a rolling 12 months.
  • Cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours ahead, or the fee is forfeited.

The lesson: recertify before the 12 months end. It is free and short, while a lapse costs a full exam fee.

How do I prepare?

Anthropic points to the exam guide (domains, task statements, sample questions), prep courses in Partner Academy, and Pearson system tests. The former practice exam was retired. The official exam guide sits behind Partner Academy, so treat domain weights from third-party blogs as unofficial.

What should I do next?

  1. Ask whether your employer is in the Claude Partner Network and which tier.
  2. Get your company email added to the partner record.
  3. Choose Foundations or Professional, then book through the Pearson VUE link after you pay.

Exam fees and rules may change after 20 October 2026, so check the registration page before paying.
