Claude is Anthropic’s AI assistant, and it comes in five plans: Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Free costs $0, Pro starts at $17 a month, and Max starts at $100 a month. Prices and limits change, so check Anthropic’s pricing page before you pay.
The short answer
- Free: $0, with the Sonnet and Haiku models and no Opus.
- Pro: $17 a month billed annually ($200 up front) or $20 billed monthly.
- Max: from $100 a month, at 5x or 20x Pro usage per 5-hour session.

How do the five plans compare?

How do the usage limits work?
According to the pricing page, limits on paid plans reset on a rolling five-hour window, and paid plans also have weekly limits. Usage across web, desktop, mobile and Claude Code shares one pool.
Other caps may apply at Anthropic’s discretion. So treat the plan comparison as a ceiling on what is promised, not a guaranteed number of messages.
Which models are current?
The page lists Fable 5.1, Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5 as current models. Older models are marked legacy.
What about taxes, regions and refunds?
Prices exclude applicable tax, and the page does not say that subscription prices vary by region. Because prices are in US dollars, the amount charged to your card may differ.
For API workloads, US-only inference costs 1.1x standard pricing. Users in the EEA and UK can request refunds directly within a 14-day withdrawal period.
Which plan fits you?
- Trying Claude: Free, with the Sonnet and Haiku models and no Opus.
- Daily personal use and Claude Code: Pro, which includes both.
- Heavy use: Max at 5x or 20x Pro usage.
- Small teams: Team, with central billing and SSO.
- Organizations needing audit and access controls: Enterprise.
What to do next
- Open the pricing page and confirm today’s price and limits for the plan you want.
