Amazon.sa Selling and FBA Fees for One Item: A Line-by-Line Example

A hypothetical 120 SAR Home and Kitchen item costs about 31.81 SAR in Amazon.sa selling and FBA fees, so you keep 88.19 SAR. The item weighs 0.8 kg, measures 25 x 18 x 12 cm and is stored for 45 days.

The 31.81 SAR splits into a 16.80 SAR referral fee, 10.00 SAR FBA fulfilment, 0.86 SAR storage and 4.15 SAR VAT on those fees. It rests on two of the tool’s own assumptions: 15% VAT on every fee, and storage prorated as days / 30. Neither is a confirmed Amazon rule. We ran these figures in ClueTrove’s Marketplace Selling and Shipping Fee Calculator.

The short answer: five lines add up to 31.81 SAR

The item is made up. It is not a real product, and these figures are not a quote. Each fee line is calculated on its own. VAT is then added on the sum of the three fee lines.

Line How it is worked out Amount
Referral fee 14% x 120.00 SAR 16.80 SAR
FBA fulfilment Standard Parcel, up to 1 kg, selling price above 25.00 SAR 10.00 SAR
Monthly storage (45 days) 5,400 cm3 x 3.00 SAR x 45 / (28,316.84 x 30) 0.86 SAR
VAT on the fees 15% x (16.80 + 10.00 + 0.86 = 27.66) 4.15 SAR
Total fees 16.80 + 10.00 + 0.86 + 4.15 31.81 SAR
Left from the selling price 120.00 – 31.81 88.19 SAR

What do these numbers mean for your pricing?

Fees take about a quarter of this item’s price, and the referral fee is the biggest piece. At 16.80 SAR, it is more than half of the 31.81 SAR total.

Storage is almost negligible here: 0.86 SAR for 45 days. Fulfilment is a flat 10.00 SAR for any Standard Parcel up to 1 kg priced above 25.00 SAR. So for light, small items, the percentage fee decides your margin. For heavy or bulky items, the fulfilment and storage lines would matter more.

The 88.19 SAR is not your profit. It is what remains after only the lines the tool models. Your product cost, advertising, returns and packaging still come out of it.

How do I calculate Amazon FBA fees for Saudi Arabia in the calculator?

These steps reproduce the worked example. They use only the field and button names the calculator shows.

  1. Type 120 in “Expected selling price (Saudi riyals)”.
  2. Type 0.8, in kilograms, in “Product weight with its direct box”.
  3. Under “Platforms (choose one or more to compare)”, choose “Amazon Saudi Arabia”.
  4. Turn on the service “Amazon storage, fulfilment and delivery (FBA)”.
  5. In “Product category”, choose “Home and kitchen”.
  6. Under “Product dimensions after packing (cm)”, type 25 for “Length”.
  7. Type 18 for “Width”.
  8. Type 12 for “Height”.
  9. Type 45 in “Expected storage time (days)”.
  10. Press “Calculate”.
  11. Read the lines under “Result per item”: “Platform commission”, “Fulfilment or shipping”, “Storage”, “VAT on the fees” and “Left from the selling price”.

The page also has a “Start over” button.

When you choose FBA, the page shows a box titled “Required for the services you chose”. For Amazon FBA it lists the product category, all three dimensions (length, width, height) and the storage days. Below the list it says: “Selling price and weight are always required. Anything not listed here is optional.”

Because only one service is chosen, the page also shows “Choose a second service to compare” above the result. That message does not mean anything is wrong with your data.

Line by line: where each rate comes from

1. Referral fee: 16.80 SAR

The Amazon.sa pricing page lists a 14% referral fee for Home and 14% for Kitchen. Each has a minimum referral fee of 1.00 SAR. The page defines the referral fee as a percentage of the total price, which includes the item price, shipping cost and any gift-wrapping charges. Amazon charges that percentage or the minimum amount, whichever is greater.

For this item, 14% x 120.00 = 16.80 SAR. That is above the minimum, so the percentage applies. The calculator applies the rate to the price you type. If your total price also includes shipping or gift wrapping, Amazon’s base for the fee would be larger.

The referral table carries no effective date, and the page shows no update date. The only year in the footer is a “© 2022” copyright line, which is not an update date. The Arabic version of the pricing page shows the same 14% rate and 1.00 SAR minimum for Home and Kitchen.

Amazon.sa also advertises a 30% referral-fee discount for new sellers, which it says is valid until 31 December 2026. The discount is not applied in this example.

2. FBA fulfilment: 10.00 SAR

The pricing page defines FBA size tiers by dimensions and weight. A standard-size item, fully packaged, weighs 12 kg or less and does not exceed 45 cm on its longest side, 34 cm on its median side and 26 cm on its shortest side. The Standard Parcel tier is listed as ≤45 x ≤34 x ≤26 cm with a maximum outbound shipping weight of 12,000 g.

This item’s sides of 25, 18 and 12 cm fit inside those limits. Its 12 cm height is above the 5 cm limit of the envelope tiers, and 0.8 kg is within the 12 kg limit. The tool therefore places it in the Standard parcel tier.

For a Standard Parcel up to 1 kg, the page’s FBA table lists 8.00 SAR per unit when the selling price is below 25.00 SAR and 10.00 SAR per unit when it is above 25.00 SAR. Both columns are headed “Fee effective August 1, 2025”. At 120.00 SAR, the fee is 10.00 SAR.

The page’s FBA section says only that the fee follows the product’s shipping weight “(details below)”, and it gives no such details. The volumetric-weight rule on the page, (L x B x H) / 5000 using whichever weight is higher, appears in the Easy Ship section only. The calculator therefore uses the weight you enter, as it is, for FBA.

3. Monthly storage for 45 days: 0.86 SAR

The pricing page sets the FBA monthly inventory storage fee at 3.00 SAR per cubic foot per month. Amazon charges it by calendar month, based on the daily average volume in cubic feet. The page uses the conversion 1 cubic foot = 28,316.84 cm3. This storage rate carries no effective date.

The calculation runs in three steps:

  1. Volume: 25 x 18 x 12 = 5,400 cm3.
  2. Spread over 45 days: 5,400 x 3.00 x 45 / (28,316.84 x 30) = 0.858.
  3. Rounded half-up to the nearest 0.01: 0.86 SAR.

Dividing the days by 30 is the tool’s approximation, not an Amazon rule. The page also says a long-term storage fee applies to inventory held for more than 365 days, but it gives no amount. That fee is not part of this 45-day example.

4. VAT on the fees: 4.15 SAR

The pricing page says all listed fees exclude applicable VAT and that Amazon will add VAT to all fees. That general note gives no rate. A separate line in the page’s Easy Ship section says Amazon will apply 5% VAT to the fees shown there.

ZATCA’s guideline on raising the standard VAT rate to 15% is an Arabic-only PDF with no issue date. It states that Saudi VAT started in 2018 at a basic rate of 5%. It also says taxable persons must charge 15% on standard-rated supplies made from 1 July 2020. Zero-rated and exempt supplies are not affected by the change.

The calculator uses 15% and flags the 5% line. It takes 15% of the sum of the three rounded fee lines: 15% x 27.66 = 4.149, shown as 4.15 SAR. No source we used confirms which rate Amazon actually invoices on FBA fees. Applying 15% to every fee is the tool’s assumption, not tax advice.

5. Total: 31.81 SAR in fees, 88.19 SAR left

The fees total 16.80 + 10.00 + 0.86 + 4.15 = 31.81 SAR. That leaves 120.00 – 31.81 = 88.19 SAR from the selling price. This is the amount left after the lines the tool models. It is not the full cost of selling.

Source and effective date of each rate

Rate Value used Source Effective date shown
Referral fee, Home and Kitchen 14%, minimum 1.00 SAR Amazon.sa pricing page None shown
FBA fulfilment, Standard Parcel up to 1 kg 10.00 SAR (price above 25.00 SAR) Amazon.sa pricing page August 1, 2025

The tool’s Amazon figures come from the pricing pages as read on 2026-10-07 and twice on 2026-10-08, with identical text each time. They may change.

What if the real fulfilment fee uses dimensional weight?

Then your fee could be higher. This is ClueTrove arithmetic, not an Amazon rule. Applying the Easy Ship formula, 5,400 / 5,000 gives 1.08 kg, which is just above the 1 kg band edge.

Typed in as 1.08 kg, the tool showed fulfilment 11.50 SAR, VAT on the fees 4.37 SAR and 86.47 SAR left. That is 1.50 SAR more in fulfilment, and what is left drops from 88.19 SAR to 86.47 SAR. If you sell items near a weight band edge, run both weights before you set a price.

What we tested

These are results of ClueTrove’s own test of its tool, run on a local copy of the live build 1.6.5 files on the inputs stated below. Other items and inputs can give different results, and the numbers are not a promise of what Amazon will charge.

  • Tool version: live build 1.6.5 of the Marketplace Selling and Shipping Fee Calculator. We tested a local copy of the files fetched from tools.cluetrove.com. That copy was byte-identical to the live files when fetched and again after the runs, which we confirmed by comparing file hashes only.
  • Test date: 2026-10-08.
  • Environment: headless Microsoft Edge 154.0.4258.62 on Windows, with Playwright 1.63.0. We used synthetic inputs only and blocked every outside request.
  • Inputs: platform “Amazon Saudi Arabia”, service “Amazon storage, fulfilment and delivery (FBA)”, price 120 SAR, weight 0.8 kg, category “Home and kitchen”, length 25 cm, width 18 cm, height 12 cm, storage time 45 days. Nothing else was filled in.
  • Results: “Platform commission” 16.80 SAR, “Fulfilment or shipping” 10.00 SAR (Size tier: Standard parcel), “Storage” 0.86 SAR, “VAT on the fees” 4.15 SAR and “Left from the selling price” 88.19 SAR. The card also showed “Calculation weight: 0.8 kg”. The Arabic and English pages showed the same numbers.
  • Independent check: we wrote a separate exact calculator (BigInt, half-up to 0.01). It gave the same five numbers for this example. The tool’s engine matched that calculator on 122685 of 122685 generated cases, with 0 mismatches. All 112 of 112 interface tests passed on both language pages. This shows the arithmetic is consistent with the rates the tool holds. It does not show that those rates equal what Amazon charges.
  • Rounding: the page states that every amount is rounded once, half-up to 0.01 SAR. It also states that VAT on the fees is taken on the sum of the rounded lines.
  • Missing inputs: without dimensions, the fulfilment line shows “Not calculated” with the reason “Needs dimensions”. Without storage days, the storage line shows “Not calculated” with “Needs storage time”. In either case, the VAT line and “Left from the selling price” also show “Not calculated”. The page then lists the gaps under “What is missing to complete the calculation”. Missing data is never treated as zero.
Tool card after the hypothetical example is entered: “Expected selling price (Saudi riyals)” 120, “Product weight with its direct box” 0.8 in kilograms, platform “Amazon Saudi Arabia” with the service “Amazon storage, fulfilment and delivery (FBA)”, the box “Required for the services you chose” listing Amazon FBA with its required fields, “Product category” “Home and kitchen” marked “(required for: Amazon FBA)”, dimensions 25, 18 and 12 cm and “Expected storage time (days)” 45, each marked “(required for: Amazon FBA)” in its label. The image ends at the storage-time field; the optional fields and the buttons below it are not in the crop.

What the example does not cover

  • The item is hypothetical. Its price, weight and size are made up, so the result is not a quote.
  • Storage is an approximation: volume x 3.00 SAR per cubic foot x days / 30. Amazon charges on the daily average volume per calendar month.
  • FBA is calculated from the weight you enter, and from that weight alone. If Amazon applies a dimensional weight to FBA, the real fee may be higher. In ClueTrove’s what-if, which uses the Easy Ship divisor of 5,000, this item would reach 1.08 kg and fulfilment would be 11.50 SAR.
  • The tool does not model Amazon’s 30% new-seller discount, Amazon long-term storage, removal fees or value-added services. It also does not include VAT on the sale price itself, advertising, returns, payment fees, packaging or your own warehouse costs.
  • The 15% VAT rate comes from ZATCA’s guideline. Applying it to every platform fee is the tool’s assumption, and one line on the Amazon page says 5%.
  • The Amazon referral table and the storage rate carry no date. Only the FBA fee columns (2025-08-01) and Easy Ship (2022-08-22) carry dates. Figures were read on 2026-10-07 and 2026-10-08 and may change.
  • The tool does not calculate the Amazon Grocery referral minimum, because the Arabic and English Amazon pages show different figures for it.

We did not test these:

  • The live pages in a browser. The tests ran on a local copy of the live files.
  • A comparison with Amazon’s own fee calculator, a seller account, an invoice or a settlement statement.
  • Browsers other than headless Microsoft Edge 154.0.4258.62, real phones and screen readers.
  • Amazon Seller Central help pages, which may hold details not on the public pricing page.
  • The page’s own statement that the tool was tested against the worked examples on the platforms’ pages. We did not verify it.
  • Whether any figure is still current after 2026-10-08.

What to do next

  1. Enter your own price, weight, size and storage days in the calculator and compare with the 31.81 SAR example.
  2. Check the new-seller discount if you are new: Amazon.sa advertises 30% off referral fees until 31 December 2026, and the tool does not apply it.
  3. Check the current numbers on Amazon.sa’s pricing page before you commit to a price. The referral and storage rates show no date.
  4. Subtract the costs the tool leaves out: advertising, returns, payment fees, packaging and your own warehouse costs.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Treating the 88.19 SAR as profit. It is only the amount left after the modeled fee lines.
  • Applying the referral rate to the item price alone when your total price includes shipping or gift wrapping.
  • Skipping dimensions or storage days. The calculator then shows “Not calculated” instead of guessing zero.

To run the same line-by-line arithmetic on your own price, weight, size and storage time, use the Amazon.sa fee calculator for referral, FBA, storage and VAT lines. It shows the source and date behind each rate with the result, and it marks any line it cannot calculate as “Not calculated”.

Questions and answers

Is the referral fee based only on the item price?

No. Amazon.sa’s pricing page says the base is the total price, including the item price, shipping cost and any gift-wrapping charges, or a minimum amount, whichever is greater. The calculator applies the rate to the price you type.

Why does the example use 15% VAT and not 5%?

ZATCA’s guideline sets 15% for standard-rated supplies from 1 July 2020, and 5% was the rate from 2018. Amazon’s general note gives no rate, and one Easy Ship line says 5%. The tool uses 15% and flags this. It is not tax advice.

Does Amazon use dimensional weight for FBA in Saudi Arabia?

The pricing page does not say. Its volumetric rule appears in the Easy Ship section only. The tool uses your entered weight. As a ClueTrove what-if, not an Amazon FBA rule, applying the Easy Ship divisor of 5,000 would bring this item to 1.08 kg, and fulfilment would show 11.50 SAR.

Are these Amazon.sa fee rates current?

They were read on 2026-10-07 and 2026-10-08 and may change. Of the rates used in this example, only the FBA fulfilment columns carry an effective date (August 1, 2025). The referral table and the storage rate show no date.

Is the new-seller referral discount included?

No. Amazon.sa advertises a 30% referral-fee discount for new sellers that it says is valid until 31 December 2026. The calculator does not apply it.
